Bodily Autonomy: The right of every individual to have control over their own body, including decisions about medical treatments, physical appearance, and personal boundaries. In our studio, we honor and respect each client’s bodily autonomy, ensuring they feel empowered and comfortable throughout their waxing or skincare experience.

Brazilian (see ‘Genital Wax’): A waxing service that removes all or most hair from the pubic region. We prefer using the term “Genital Wax” to make this service more inclusive of all bodies.

Cisgender: A person whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth.

Exfoliation: The process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to promote smoother texture and prevent ingrown hairs, enhancing waxing results.

Gender Identity: A person’s internal understanding and personal sense of their gender, which may or may not align with their sex assigned at birth.

Gender Fluid: A gender identity that is not fixed and may change over time or depending on the situation.

Genitals: The external reproductive organs, which vary based on anatomy and may include parts like the vulva, penis, or other genital structures.

Genital Wax: A service that removes hair from the genital area, designed to be inclusive of all bodies, regardless of gender or anatomy.

Hyperpigmentation: A common skin condition where certain areas of the skin become darker than the surrounding area, often addressed in skin brightening treatments.

Hypoallergenic: Refers to products or treatments that are specially formulated to minimize the risk of causing allergic reactions. Our hypoallergenic waxing products are gentle on sensitive skin, making them ideal for clients with allergies or skin sensitivities, while still providing effective results.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A chronic skin condition causing small, painful lumps to form under the skin, often in areas prone to hair growth and sweating.

Ingrown Hair: Hair that grows back into the skin instead of outward, often causing irritation, bumps, and discomfort, which can be addressed with specialized treatments.

Intersex: A term used to describe individuals born with physical sex characteristics, such as chromosomes, gonads, or genitalia, that do not fit typical definitions of male or female bodies. Intersex variations are natural, and people who are intersex may identify with any gender. At our studio, we provide respectful, inclusive care for all bodies, including those that are intersex.

Neurodivergent: A term that describes people whose brain function or cognitive processes differ from the “typical”, often relating to conditions like ADHD or autism.

Nonbinary: A gender identity that does not fit within the traditional categorization of male or female.

Moisturize: The process of applying a product to the skin to maintain hydration, improve skin texture, and support post-waxing care.

Penis: The external genital organ typically associated with male anatomy, involved in sexual function and urination. Not everyone with a penis identifies as male, and our services are inclusive of all gender identities and bodies.

Skin Brightening: Treatments that reduce the appearance of dark spots, even out skin tone, and reduce hyperpigmentation without changing the skin’s natural shade.

Top Surgery: A gender-affirming surgical procedure to either create a flattened chest or enhance one.

Trauma Informed: An approach to care that recognizes and understands the impact of trauma, ensuring that services are provided in a manner that promotes physical and emotional safety.

Transgender: A person whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.

Terminal Hair: Thick, coarse hair that grows during puberty and in areas like the scalp, underarms, and pubic region.

Vulva: The external genital area of the body, which includes the labia, clitoris, and vaginal opening. It is part of the anatomy for people assigned female at birth, though not everyone who has a vulva identifies as female.
